Our Mission
Pretty Things is dedicated to uplifting the fallen, amplifying the unheard, and sharing the stories of women that have been cast aside for a ‘less feminist magazine’. Women's ideas, opinions, and voices are constantly overlooked, their stories shoved under the rug in fear of exposing the other's negative behaviors. If our stories are not shared, who will know our true experiences?

Lauren Downs is a senior at the University of Iowa, earning an Honors B.A. in English and Creative Writing on the Publishing track and a minor in Translation for Global Literacy. Among her favorite authors include Toni Morrison, Virginia Woolf, Donna Tartt, and Clarice Lispector influencing her editing style and approach to literary analysis. Lauren has been published in University of Iowa's student literary magazines The Broken Clock and Cave Writing Magazine and is currently the Co-President and Typesetter for Boundless Literary Magazine.
